Farming as a family
Nestled in the countryside, just south of Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders is Kersheugh Farm: 435 acres of farmland. This is where we (The Jacksons) call home and where the daily routines of work and raising kids blend into the family way of life.
1000 sheep and 300 cows graze the fields. On the farm there are also pigs, goats, chickens, a faithful gang of border collies, and every now and then a brand-new litter of gorgeous pups.
We believe that the farming tradition is a vital part of the wider community. Which is why we encourage the kids to get stuck in on the farm whether it’s feeding the cows, raising cheeky sheepdog puppies or giving the newborn lambs their milk.
Even if they don’t realise it, we see how the children learn through play - developing life skills and a sense of responsibility as they spend time with the animals. Life on the farm also allows kids to experience the change in the seasons and enjoy a daily dose of fresh air.
So long as they are suited and booted with the right outdoor gear, kids have fun whatever the weather.
In this way we hope to equip them for life.
our story
The Jacksons have been stewards of Kersheugh Farm since 1971. In those fifty years, they've put down roots as the first generation of children grew up and went on to have their own families. Now Fenwick Jackson has his own family and shares his life and work on the farm with wife Jasmine and their six children between them.
We started our business to welcome families to our working farm. People can now enjoy the exhilaration of being out in the bracing fresh air while touring through open Scottish countryside and embrace the changes that come with each season out on the farm. Expand your horizons as you learn more about a way of life that is vital to our economy and our communities.
We are the Jacksons, and we invite you to come and experience this farming life with us.

I was born here and grew up at Kersheugh, so it’s always been home.
After a stint in Australia, I returned to my roots and in 1993 started farming in partnership with my father, Fenwick G Jackson. I am always looking for ways to innovate so transforming our family farm into an outdoor tourist attraction was an exciting project for me and I am looking forward to welcoming visitors to our farm. |
I’ve always had a passion for livestock and working outdoors. For a number of years, I trained sheepdogs. I continued to do this after the birth of my two children until kids and dogs became a difficult balance.
Now I help Fenwick on the farm when I can, with and without the kids and run our visitor attraction. I created ‘Jacksons at Jedburgh’ because I love people and organizing events. I want to welcome you to our farm so you can see what it’s really like, have fun with your family and learn about our way of life. |
